About the Author.

Hi there, my name is Kri Lusasinti, I often go by either Sarc or Chronomorphosis online. I'm a flakey artist, an agnostic atheist, a sustainable living enthusiast, and an avid hiker. I'm tattooed and pierced and have more kinks than a double helix supercoil. I collect dead things and the best years of my life were spent living in the woods. I like pirates and sailing ships and other nautical things, octopus, snakes, evolution, books, wilderness, road trips, and the Pacific Northwest. I'm a huge fan of the series One Piece (it takes up probably about a third of my life) and also Babylon 5. I currently live in the US and I tend to wander a lot. I can usually be found either holed up in a trailer somewhere near the back forty, or tramping up and down the West Coast of the US.

About the Origin of the Story.

I officially started Insect Kings on November 1st, 2005 as part of the NaNoWriMo writing project, but its origins go back to when I was a little kid. Insect Kings is actually an attempt to make sense out of a dream world that I've experienced since I was about 6 or 7 years old. All of the features of the world of Dehalen are pulled directly out of my dreams/nightmares, and that includes the characters. The dream world has been consistent - i.e. whenever I dream the same locations are always interconnected in the same way, to the extent that I've managed to create a rough map of the world. The character interactions and the essential "meat" of the story are all part and parcel of the dreams I have had as well.

The down side to all of this is that the dreams I have had are not in chronological order. It's why I know how the story ends, but sometimes get stuck in the middle. I can't write what I haven't dreamed, so sometimes I have to wait long periods of time before I'm able to dream up enough to go on and write another chapter. There's also the bits about real life getting in the way, and the inevitable writer's block, so progress is often slow-going. But I have every intention of finishing this story, no matter how slow I may hack at it.
